These flashcards get two stars because they are really good quality. People should not expect them to go with the Chineasy book however. I love the book. These flashcards do not match up with it at all. There are fewer words on the flashcards, so I was not expecting an exact match, but the cards do not map at all to the book. I expected to be able to learn some characters using the Chineasy method and then use the flashcards to practice them. I've just made flashcards myself from index cards and this is what I use for practicing. These premaid flashcards are a waste for my purpose.

It is easy to underestimate the value of these cards, and several reviews here have done. Our 4 year old son learned the radicals within two times of learning the cards (we have not yet begun with the phrases). But the pictures surrounding the radicals are ingenious. They seem like simple design, but they really assist in memorizing pictographs that have no context for a Western mind. Moreover, the compound images that are represented at the bottom of the card are well chosen; they build on the radicals in smart ways. So "woman" in "surround" equals the word for "daughter." Or "woman" under "roof" equals the word for "peaceful." Or "heart" inside "doors" is the word for "boredom." Our son and I love figuring out what the words means. Moreover, he has easily transitioned from these signs to others he sees in our basic Chinese literature. In other words, these colorful flashcards, printed on sturdy cardboard that his little hands love to handle, have provided an inspiring springboard for accessing other characters. I bought the Tuttle edition, upon the recommendation of another person on this list, and those cards are a great resource. But the first step should be Chineasy.

The idea is great and the quality of the cards is excellent, but two major problems. (1) These are traditional chinese characters, not simplified. They should make this clear in the advertising. You shouldn't have to read the tiny text in the instructions to learn that most of the chacracters are in traditional format. (2) Poor graphic design. The pinyin text font is ridiculously small. The tone designations (superscript number) are even smaller. The numbers must literally be 3 point font. You need a magnifying glass to read them (not kidding).

better than the book of the same title. at least it was bigger and easier to read the characters. but still needs a link to an audio source so you can learn the correct way to pronounce the characters.

While these should work, especially with the pictures, my Chinese teacher from China, actually had to correct many of these cards.

I thought that these cards would be a more useful tool for learning and practicing. I find the pictures very nice and I'm sure they'll be a nice decoration for my coffee table, but still do not know if I'll be learning anything from them. The system is not as quick as they advertise it. Learning chinese takes time no matter the resources.

The design is really colorful and easy to connect with the word you are learning so it's a great way to add some words to your Chinese vocabulary. The cards are sturdy but nothing special so I would say that you are paying for the method itself rather than the cards.

Saw this online and had to get it. Have used it with my students and love it. I don't think it will make me fluent in Chinese, but I know more than I did before. Quick, easy, fun. A great way to introduce the idea of pictographic language to English speaker.

About the Author
Terence Conran is one of the world's best-known designers, restaurateurs and retailers. In the 1960s he founded Habitat - the chain of homeware stores that brought good, modern design within reach of the general population for the very first time. Over the subsequent 50 years Terence built another group of companies centred around design, retailing, restaurants and hotels. Today, Conran Associates owns restaurants and shops in eight cities throughout the world and a design business serving many international clients that includes architecture and interior design, product and graphic design and brand licensing. In January 2011 Conran Associates began working with Marks & Spencer in the UK, designing an exclusive range of homewares for the store. In 2012 Conran Associates signed a deal to collaborate with US retail giant jcpenney to design an exclusive range of furniture, lighting and accessories for the home. The initial collection launched in spring 2013 into 300 jcpenney stores throughout the US and there will be new ranges launching each spring and autumn. Terence Conran was knighted for his services to design in 1983 and has been provost of the Royal College of Art in London. This review will be short for what I have read in the course of two days has me experiencing many emotions—Sadness, anger and relief.I experienced sadness for all the lives lost. Anger for the atrocities done. Relief for the freedom of one man.At first as I began reading I cried and grew mad with God. Then I was astonished by what these prisoners endured and slave-labored through. Lastly, I read the last remaining chapters almost in a numb state. I felt no sadness or anger. As if the torture that became a norm for these prisoners placed me in a trance like state. I just read the words, took in the horrific scenes developing in my mind to its final conclusion.Should one recommend such a book? Should one be exposed to the horrors that await the reader in this book? I do not know if I would say I’d recommend it. But I will say it is necessary to be acquainted with the past of history and the bloodiness that saturates it in order to understand the plight of Jewish survivors and any survivor who lived through the nightmare to tell the tale.May all those who perished find rest in God. May those who remain look forward to the sweet rest of God once they leave the land of the living. Amen.

The Last Jew of Treblinka: A Memoir was written by Chil Rajchman. It is the chilling tale of the death camp Treblinka by one of the very few who survived. His memoir was mainly written in hiding in Warsaw before the Soviets took it over. It contains some of the best descriptions of the Nazi program of extermination. His very deliberate method of relating what happened to him is quite chilling. Although he doesn’t deliberately make it emotional, you can’t help but get the emotions he is feeling at any time.Chil does not tell anything about his past prior to being in Treblinka. Through other sources we find he was born in Lodz on June 14, 1914. In 1939, he and one sister fled as the Germans approached. He and his sister were captured near Lublin and deported to Treblinka. Here he immediately lost his sister while he was chosen among the one hundred men needed to run the camp. Later, he finds his sister’s dress.The book is neither long nor difficult to read; but it takes longer to read it than some other memoirs. This is due to his deliberate matter of fact writing that tells so much emotion between the lines. Of the many Holocaust memoirs I have read, this has to be one of the most chilling. What we know of Treblinka comes only through a very small number of survivors.

Have you ever heard something so extraordinarily insane/incredible that, while you intellectually understand what is being told to you, you simply can't emotionally process it? I found myself, in a way, as detached as the author seemed to be. I believe every word to be true but the level of evil that existed, which he and so many others suffered, to be so hellish, so beyond anyone's wildest imagining of what evil is, that I lacked the ability to despair over what I read. I feel anger. A red, hot anger towards humanity in general, but what he witnessed is so, so beyond anything I can truly emotionally comprehend. How can there be a God if this is how he let's his children suffer?

I have read every review of this book, and agree completely with their universal sorrow and outrage at the horrors inflicted on those poor people. As much as I despise those who who treated them so mercilessly and so brutally, I must confess that my most powerful regret is that any human person could become so dehumanized. I would rather be one of those tortured and murdered than be one of those torturers and murderers. I can't imagine anyone would disagree with me on this.

Harrowing descriptions depict the ten months Rajchman spent in the death camp. The story, lucid and dark, addresses the unfathomably evil, monstrous acts perpetrated on the Jewish victims by Ukrainian guards and German commanders. Rajchman’s account reveals not only how the Jews were savaged and murdered, but also reveals the depraved actions of the Nazis to hide their crimes.Yechiel Meyer Rajchman, born in Lodz, Poland, in June of 1914, was caught in a Nazi round-up of Jews in Lublin, Poland, in 1943, and sent, along with his younger sister, to Treblinka. The graphic account bears witness to the relentless beatings, continual hunger, rampant disease and the endless torture inflicted upon the prisoners while living in insufferable conditions. The memoir stands as an excellent source of information on Treblinka death camp and on the Holocaust.

This is one man's memoir of his time in Treblinka. He with his young sister were one of thousands of people taken by cattle cars to be systematically killed. His sister was taken to a gas chamber immediately. He ended up being used by the Germans along with other Jewish men to get whatever money, precious metals, cut the hair off of women before they entered the gas chambers, burn the bodies because the German's hoped not to be found to be evil, but because of these reports from people forced to do their bidding, being beaten regularly, not fed much, in a filthy environment with lack also of adequate water, they were the voices to attest to this evil. It did happen. Humans did this to other humans. This story came out years later. He eventually went to live in a country in South America and had three sons. His memoir was needed to add to the voices speaking up about this evil. We must remember, otherwise we could end up repeating it. I had family that ended up in concentration camps and were murdered. I don't want this ever to happen again.

Raw. Horrifying. There is nothing white washed in this account. I can't imagine surviving one day in this hell! How can one human beings be so cruel to another? How can the camp staff shuffle tens of thousands from train to gas chamber and think this is right? Impossible. Torture for amusement like the roman colosseum. What's amazing is the spirit to survive and the willingness by a few to help though it endangers their own life. To save one seems insignificant.

A few bits of good advice here and there. But if you're looking for detailed information on the process of invention, "The Independent Inventor's Handbook: The Best Advice from Idea to Payoff" is a far better book.

I returned it. I found it for $2 somewhere else. The book is well written and she does encourage you to pursue your dreams. But the reality is, that you already need to have a lot of money. She touches on how to determine if it's a yes or no product. But in today's world (2017) it is much harder to invent something completely new. Unless of course you are a Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Bezos etc, etc, and some people are. The book suggest that you already have your product because the majority of the book takes you through the prototype, choosing and visiting the manufacturing process and distribution. Oh and by the way you need $100,000 or more. So the book isn't for everyone, it is not going to tell you what product to invent or if it's a sure thing. Lori is honest in the book about how, what, why and how much it could cost. She also seems to really want to help. Lori's energy and care comes across in the pages.

Lots of great and precise information on pitching your product, promoting it, and growing your business. Not nearly enough nuts and bolts on basics, like getting someone to listen and buy into the prototype or finding a good manufacturer. This is where I believe most of us are stuck.

Quite frankly, Lori Greiner is the only shark that I like on Shark Tank, which is why I picked up her book. I felt confident that I'd enjoy this seeing as I've always enjoyed Greiner's upbeat personality and I was correct in assuming that her positive attitude would come accross well in her book. What I enjoyed most was her personal antidotes along the way to her success stories. She shares her setbacks...her remedying those situations, and ultimately her path to success in her ventures. Her uplifting personality shines through in this book and one can help but get inspired to set out on their own path to success. Her advice and insight is very practical and non-intimidating. I found myself finishing this book rather quickly because it was so interesting, informative and entertaining. Highly recommended.

NOT a super useful text. This book plainly states that patenting is a very expensive process, and while Greiner goes through it in great detail, the entire time you are thinking, "well where am i going to get 10,000 dollars to make a patent, or time to go to China to oversee manufacturing" etc etc. While she makes good points, like the sacrifices you have to make if you believe in your product, I strongly disagree.I highly recommend Stephen Key's books on licensing, where you can see how to break into this process without breaking the bank, and without quitting your day job. Once you have started down this road, Ms Greiner's text may be more applicable/useful for you.

This has been such a great read for me. I am in the process of getting a brand new product out that i know everyone can use and this book gave me great advice on how to proceed to make sure i do everything that is necessary and the best way to handle the launching of my product. I really look up to Lori Greiner, she is definitely the type of business woman i would love to become. Any advice that she gives, my ears are wide open and i trust what she says. Maybe one day i can get her to back my ideas! Five Stars for this book, Invent it. Sell It. Bank It! Exactly what i plan on doing. Highly recommend this book.

I'm developing a couple of product inventions. I love Lori on SharkTank and decided to give her book a read. This is a straight-forward, simple review:I loved it for two reasons: First, it told me what I was doing RIGHT; second, it pointed out GAPS in my product design, development, as well as gave me additional guidelines for my business plan and marketing as well as outsourcing, supplies, etc.Casual tone, easy read, succinct. The author, Lori Greiner, has invented and patented hundreds of products herself. But she is also an investor - and this is how I first knew of her - in many inventions and companies that were started by inventors. She has a ton of wisdom, and when you couple that with amicability and enthusiasm you get this text. It's true, as others have said, that it is not immediately practical for people who can not afford the tens of thousands of dollars that are absolutely necessary in order to build a prototype and test products. This is unfortunate, and i agree for the most part but I happen to believe that even if a book is not immediately relevant to you, there is some perspective you can get out of it. Perspective broadens your scope, and with a bigger scope comprehension becomes more feasible for future use.
